Sleepy Saturday. Secrets.

Zac's song for the day..

"Joyful, Joyful, Eggs are Joyful.."

I did start writing this on a Saturday. It's not now. It's ok, get over it.

So what are your secrets? We all have them. I wanna know what they are. Dish it, peeps!

Here's a few of mine.

1. I've eaten boogers.
2. Not necessarily my own.
3. I'd do it again, if the necessity arised.
4. I'm writing this instead of cleaning.
5. I have a 3rd nipple.
6. I'm afraid of whales.
7. There are days when I don't drink any water.
8. I hear voices. Yeah, like right now.
9. I am always forgetting to brush my teeth, but I floss multiple times a day.
10. I first told my husband "I love you" (accidentally) at Pizza Hut.
11. The top of the "P" of the "Perkins" sign was burnt out, so technically I got engaged at "Jerkins". For real. I have a picture.
12. I had over 60 pen pals in high school.
13. I once threw a hamster.
14. And a hermit crab.
15. Not at the same time.
16. I contemplated eating a bagel that fell on the floor this morning. I hadn't dropped it yet, but for some reason I was sure I was going to.
17. I sleep best in the late morning.
18. I sleep in ear plugs.
19. I'm excited to watch National Lampoon's Vacation this evening.
20. I have a new thing for tattoo artists. They're so talented and confident. SEXY. (Dirk, this means you!)
21. I used to enjoy porn shopping with my male cousin.
22. I might use the credit card to buy a bag of chips today.

Discipline.

It's going to happen. Sometimes kids are naughty. I used to think it was due to some failure on my end, but it's just really not.

I found this story from when Brenna was Chris's age..

"I love that my daughter is old enough to be completely embarrassed by her mother. I have instilled the fear into her of showing up and walking into her school sporting my giant, silky, yellow jammie pants with the lemons all over them.

You wouldn't!!
Oh, wouldn't I?
I don't believe you.
Well then.. continue with the sassy talk, and take your chances.
Why can't you just spank me like a normal mom?"

Those jammie pants were the best $3 I ever spent. They had a lot of power.

Of course now that she's 16, things have changed. I brought up this story to her the other day in the car and she said something to the effect that it wouldn't bother her now because I'm totally weird, and her and her friends are used to it.

So I guess I have to work that magic while Chris is still young. Although it really does take a lot to embarrass him. I did win once when I told him if he didn't get dressed, I was going to make up a song about his penis, and sing it to his friends.

I'm not against spanking. I've done my share. But it always happens at the point where they are freaking out so bad that nothing else will get their attention. And yes, sometimes even teenagers need a thwap in the ear.

My parenting techniques aren't that outrageous, but I've been told sometimes they're a little "off"..

I like to let my kids experience consequences related to their actions. I do my part by specifically spelling out what these consequences will be, but ultimately the final decisions are in their hands. No, I don't let them do dangerous or hurtful things, but for most things I let them sink or swim on their own.

Chris insisted on ice cream for breakfast. I said no, and asked what his second choice was. He said there was nothing else in the world he wanted to eat. Just ice cream. I told him to pick something else, or he was just going to go to school hungry. He picked to not eat. He's gonna be a hungry boy by lunch time!

And it's not my fault. I suppose I could have spent the entire morning fighting with him, and begging for him to eat something.. but eh.. nah.

Last night I wasn't feeling well, so I mostly left getting him to bed to my husband. By 10:30pm though, I realized I hadn't given him the proper "tools" to make it happen. You can't just yell at him to go back to bed. Well, technically you can, but it doesn't work.

Jedi Mind Tricks, folks. They will make you prosper.

This one time.. At Walmart..

"I remember this one time I was at Walmart with my wife, and we wandered around for like an hour.. and then I asked her where her purse was.. She didn't know, so we looked around for awhile, and finally found it in the book section.. Where we hadn't been for like an hour."

I didn't come up with many great Walmart stories, but I do have a few.. The best seem to come from Georgia.. hehe..

From having your kid yell "tampons!" really loud, to losing your kids entirely for awhile.. Walmart can be an interesting place. You can buy beer and diapers in the same trip! Granted the razor blades and bananas are cheaper at Target, but the convenience really can't be matched.

Plus when you go to Walmart during the day, you run the chance of getting to hug Grama Betty! Nothing, and I mean *nothing* beats that!

A friend of mine got the pleasure of seeing a man dressed in short shorts, and stiletto heels. She also may have witnessed the racing off of a getaway car! And she knows a lady that got mugged outside of Walmart. GA kind of scares me now. If they weren't shooting the new Spongebob movie there, I might suggest we take it off the maps entirely.

I did work at Walmart for a year in the fabrics and crafts department. I loved the people I worked with! The hilite of my Walmart Career was getting called to the front to cover the door lady for a bit. That's right, I've been a Walmart Greeter! Best 20 minutes of my entire working life! It really was so fun.

One friend had a fight with a manager about hula hoops being toys.

My *favorite* story has to be this one though.. "One time I was in the fabric softener aisle, and some softener was spilled on the floor.. I slipped and fell on my back.. and this old man was trying to help me up, but my hair was really long and he was standing on my hair. I was like 'get the f*ck off my hair!'. I felt bad because he was trying to be nice.."

The songs of karate.

I hear these songs 2-3 times a week, and I never get tired of them..

I see your dirty face high behind your collar
What is done in vain, truth is hard to swallow
So you pray to God to justify the way you live a lie
Live a lie, live a lie

And you take your time
And you do your crime
Well you made your bed
I made mine!

Because when I arrive, I-I'll bring the fire
Make you come alive, I can take you higher
What this is, forgot? I must now remind you
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock

Now the son's disgraced, he who knew his father
When he cursed his name turned and chased the dollar
But it broke his heart so he stuck his middle finger to the world
To the world, to the world

And you take your time
And you stand in line
Where you'll get what's yours
I got mine!

Because when I arrive, I-I'll bring the fire
Make you come alive, I can take you higher
What this is, forgot? I must now remind you
Let it rock, let it rock, let it rock

 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Paranoia is in bloom,
The PR transmissions will resume,
They'll try to push drugs that keep us all dumbed down,
And hope that we will never see the truth around
(So come on)

Another promise, another scene,
Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed,
And all the green belts wrapped around our minds,
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on)

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious
(So come on)

Interchanging mind control,
Come let the revolution take it's toll,
If you could flick a switch and open your third eye,
You'd see that
We should never be afraid to die
(So come on)

Rise up and take the power back,
It's time the fat cats had a heart attack,
You know that their time's coming to an end,
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious
So come on

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious

Take, take your time.
Smell the roses, but steal the vines.
Don't wait for the hands of time
To second guess and change your mind.
And shine.
Here's your moment to shine.
Shine.

Lay down, my friend.
Close your eyes, breathe in,
And I'll take you there and back again.
No more questions why.
I'm not so surprised
Why you have
Been there and back again.

Replace, replace that line
That spoke to you
And showed no signs to be alive.
So are you livin' or dead?
You have made a choice to hear your voice
Or hold on to what they said.
Now, shine.
Here's your moment to shine.
Shine.

Lay down, my friend.
Close your eyes, breathe in,
And I'll take you there and back again.
No more questions why.
I'm not so surprised
Why you have
Been there and back again.

Back again, back again.
Back again, back again.

Lay down, my friend.
Close your eyes, breathe in,
And I'll take you there and back again.
No more questions why.
I'm not so surprised
Why you have
Been there and back again.

Lay down, my friend.
Close your eyes, breathe in,
And I will take you there and back again.
No more questions why.
I'm not so surprised
Why you have
Been there and back again.

Those were the days..

I've started re-reading my friend Frog's blog from the beginning, and I've realized a few things.. One being that I *really* enjoy reading about myself?

My feet and legs are finally starting to heal. Granted I'm still getting bitten and they itch like all hell 93% of the time.. But they're no longer bleeding and itching like all hell 100% of the time. So yeah, improvement is our friend.

Minus .. well nearly everything about yesterday (which I still feel is "today" since I haven't slept yet) .. It was amazing. If you're Sam, you're probably wondering how this is possible.. So I'll try to explain..

I've been going through old files and letters looking for my kid/family stories to post on the new blog for awhile now, and it's made me rethink about my life in general. Like when I was babysitting for a "job".. and had Kenyon.. etc .. and how much I seriously LOVED those kids and making them my life.. And of course my Keenan (wow so many "K" babies in my past) who I hear is now making his mama crazy with his teenaged self, but he'll always be my silly girly giggling baby boy.. I ultimately decided to include them in my "family story" history. It made me happy, yet sad, because they've all gotten "taken" from me.. I know they're still around, but they're no longer a part of my every day life. Yes, I have my own kids to torture and embarrass, but I like *have* to love them.. I mean they're MY kids.. Of course I honestly do love them with everything I am.. But there's something different about falling in love with kids that aren't your offspring.. Like you're choosing to love them.. Does that make sense?

So yeah, my "babies" are getting old, and I'm not a big influence on them anymore.. and I rarely get to see them.. But we're still connected, and they don't try to object when I "remind" them that I am their favorite.

Earlier yesterday I was reading, and feeling down because they're so far away.. And then it happened.

I stopped in to get the mail, and my cousin was unloading the car. We waved at her, and I continued going through mail.. When I put the left overs back in the box I happened to look back up at them, and her baby was waving at me. And then her daughter was running and waving too.

Something just clicked. Sure my babies were gone now, but I live next door to two awesome girls that I have somehow just not let myself know. Yeah they live in a house I can never step foot into again, but that's still not a good excuse. And Ashley's kids are out here now.. And Holly's grandson.. There are a ton of beautiful children at my disposal that have yet to be corrupted by awesome Aunt Stacy!

I need to sort things out so I can start making more fantastic memories.

Ok, there ends the emotional content of this post. I blame PMS. Or maybe it's cuz I'm drunk at 7:24am on a week day? I meant to post this before I started drinking last night though. I just didn't get around it. Chris wanted to watch Kick Buttowski and eat popcicles. That was more important than making you read about my feelings. And then I had a huge meltdown.

At this point I'd like to apologize to one friend, and say OMG THANK YOU! to another. I'll let you guys figure it out for yourselves.

I'm hoping Chris doesn't crash at school today. He came in at 3:30am (right when I had decided to try to sleep) because of a nightmare, and when I decided to give up on sleep and continue drinking at 3:45 I found him wide awake and wanting a sandwich. So I didn't make him try to go back to sleep. We hung out and watched cartoons.

Which brings me to my next question..

What do you find yourself doing now that you have kids that you NEVER thought in a thousand zillion years you'd ever do?

My answer? Utilizing mustard and miracle whip.

Seriously people, that's the sort of things nightmares are based on.
